Sharon began her musical career at the age of four studying the piano with Miss Edna Frieda Pietsch at her studio in Milwaukee. Sharon grew up playing Miss Pietsch’s compositions along with many classical works. Sharon began the oboe as a sixth grader and participated in Music for Youth for the next six years. A highlight was playing principal oboe with the Music for Youth Symphony Orchestra on a trip to Puerto Rico between her junior and senior years of high school.
Sharon began the alto sax during summer school at Longfellow Junior High and participated in jazz ensemble during her high school years at Wisconsin Lutheran High School and later at Bethany Lutheran College and Minnesota State University at Mankato. She continued her study of the piano during college with Dr. Tim Lindeman at Bethany and Dr. Ann Nadeau at MSU. Sharon graduated Magna cum Laude from Bethany with an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts in 1986. In 1989, she graduated Magna cum Laude from MSU with a B.S. in Music Education. Sharon has taught piano and instrumental music at several private schools and out of her home.
She and her husband Gary have three children who are 24, 22 and 20 years old. Sharon is grateful to her family for their support and encouragement and her amazing teachers, colleagues and students for their inspiration and friendship.
