Theresa Bollhagen has been teaching violin, viola, and guitar since 2003. She majored in violin with a minor in viola under the instruction of Jamie Hofman of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra; and majored in guitar at Milwaukee Area Technical College under the instruction of Jack Grassel and Steve Peplin. Her philosophy of teaching is to have fun with music while learning the techniques and fundamentals of the student's chosen instrument. She teaches not only what the student should learn, but also what they want to learn. In addition, she introduces them to styles they may not be familiar with to help make them well rounded musicians. Also, she is familiar with the teachings of the Menomonee Falls and Milwaukee Public Schools' music programs, and some local youth orchestras, WSMA, and their requirements, which helps make her students successful.
She has also performed with a variety of bands and orchestras ranging from classical toheavy metal.Instruction is available for all ages in violin, viola, and guitar and music theory and istaught by a teacher with 10 years experience. Lessons are once per week for a half hour, and are catered to fit each student individually. There is emphasis on note reading for allinstruments, however, students are taught to play by ear as well. For violin and viola, thefocus is classical, but a variety of styles is taught for all instruments. Most of all, the biggestfocus is having fun playing music! Return to School of Music
